 Facility Performance Evaluation
POE Contest Entry for Sarah Thamer-Hallford

Question:   How Can Post Occupancy Evaluation help you or DGS do a better job?

After reviewing the POE survey, it seemed to be easy to understand and gave clear directions about the overall satisfaction of the customer. Getting as much information from the client is helpful, however simplicity is important. The time involved in taking the POE is also critical as PMB's clients are busy as well.

One of the most important things, I believe, in a project is the personal contact after the project is complete. It is much like a relationship with the contractor on a project; typically after the project is complete, it's tough to get them to come back in the warranty phase.

Conversely, having a PD, or someone as intimate with the project, provide a formal evaluation would really let the client know that PMB is serious about taking care of their clients. Both an on-line POE as well as a face-to-face evaluation might be beneficial and could be interesting to see how they differ on-line (anonymous) as opposed to a meeting.
